Don't sweat, save money with The Body Coach app
With well-known pressures across the NHS, many staff are working additional hours to ensure Brits get the care they need, leaving them limited time to look after themselves.
At Blue Light Card, we’re always looking to give back to our members in the best way that we can which is why we asked you to tell us how you exercise.
The results are in…
Our survey revealed that 29% of workers say they struggle to find time in their schedule to exercise given their shift patterns, inevitably impacting their mental health. This is despite 91% saying it was important to them.
Given their unsociable shift patterns, blue light workers also said that they are rarely able to go to the gym in their free-time and subsequently find it a waste of money. Consequently, nearly half (47%) find themselves doing home workouts instead.
The research also found that 60% of workers aim to fit exercise into their day as it helps them to be ‘more productive’ at work. The majority of workers (38%) were found to spend between 2-4 hours doing exercise a week, with 34% visiting the gym between the hours of 8am-11am.
Move more, save more!
To help provide a solution, we’ve teamed up with The Body Coach to give our members an easier way to exercise.
Until 3rd September, members can enjoy 50% off an annual subscription to The Body Coach app. That’s just £45 to gain access to structured workouts tailored to you and your lifestyle, meal plans designed for your body, in-app planning tools to help you stay on track and exclusive access to support from The Body Coach team.
Daytime workout, anyone?
There was no better man to help us celebrate the launch of this new partnership between Blue Light Card and The Body Coach than the nations favourite coach. Members working at The Royal Surrey County Hospital got to hang up their scrubs and swap into their gym gear to enjoy their very own endorphin boosting workout with Joe Wicks himself.
Over 60 NHS workers gathered to join Wicks in his motivating but gruelling class.
Jacqui, a Senior Nurse and Midwife at the hospital for over 38 years said "It was such a fantastic day meeting Joe Wicks and taking part in one of his 15 minute workouts. There was such positive energy in the room and the session gave me such a great boost".
Thomas, a Mental Health Nurse, added: "I felt it brought together the hospital community including many people you do not see day to day, but each who play a valuable role, all for the love of fitness!".
A new partnership
Alidad Moghaddam, CEO at Blue Light Card said: ‘Emergency service workers face unique challenges and demanding schedules that often leave little time for self-care and fitness. We are thrilled to partner with The Body Coach, to help make fitness more accessible. By providing an exclusive 50% discount on the Body Coach App, we hope to empower our members to prioritise their health and well-being, despite their busy schedules.’
Joe Wicks added: ‘We recognize the immense dedication and hard work that NHS workers put into their jobs every single day. Partnering with Blue Light Card allows us to bring accessible fitness directly to them. I loved hosting a special workout with all the amazing NHS workers, and I hope our partnership with Blue Light Card helps NHS staff across the nation incorporate exercise into their lives and boost their mental and physical well-being.
